Chico Woman Arrested After Welfare Check of a Dog: Deceased & Severely Emaciated Husky Located
CHICO, CA — “On July 27, 2026, Chico Police Animal Control Officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Sacramento Ave. to conduct a welfare check of a dog.
When they arrived at the apartment, ACOs located a severely emaciated husky lying on the floor of one of the bedrooms. The dog had blood stains on its legs and in and around its mouth, though no visible injuries were seen. Based on his condition, the dog appeared to have been deceased prior to ACO’s arrival. The remains, which were estimated to weigh around 20 pounds, were collected and transported to the Chico Animal Shelter for further examination.
After further investigation, it was revealed the dog had been in the care of its current owner for approximately 4 months, with no previous health conditions or concerns. The dog’s owner, 21-year-old Jerrica ‘Levi’ Fisher was arrested and booked into the Butte County Jail for a violation of intentional cruelty to animal resulting in death (597(A) PC- Felony).
