SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA — “At about 9:30 p.m. on December 2, 2015, the Sacramento Communication Center received a call for service on the 3900 block of 48th Avenue in South Sacramento. The caller stated several gunshots had been heard and someone was yelling that an individual had been shot. Deputies arrived on scene and discovered 22-year-old Octavio Rodriguez had been shot. Rodriguez was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Fire Department.
In 2025, Homicide Detectives re-examined the case. Detectives identified Ignacio Navarrette, 34, as the shooter and obtained a murder warrant for his arrest. On July 16, 2026, Sacramento Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau Detectives located and arrested Navarrette on the outstanding warrant. Navarrette was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail where he remains ineligible for bail.”
