Absconded Sex Offender from Tehama County Reportedly Arrested in Redding

REDDING, CA — “On July 28, 2026, officers with the Redding Police Department were conducting extra patrol in the Lake Redding and Caldwell Park areas.

During the patrol, officers contacted a vehicle in the Lake Redding Park parking lot and made contact with James Price, 61, of Red Bluff. Officers determined Price was a registered sex offender out of Tehama County who had absconded from parole supervision and had not been complying with applicable parole terms.

Price was placed under arrest. During a subsequent search of his person and vehicle, officers located a usable amount of suspected methamphetamine.

Based on Price’s prior narcotics-related convictions, officers determined he was eligible for additional charges pursuant to Proposition 36.

Price was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail.

The Redding Police Department remains committed to keeping our community’s parks safe and welcoming for residents and visitors. Officers will continue conducting proactive patrols in local parks and recreation areas to address criminal activity and promote a safe environment for everyone who uses these public spaces.”
