Kern County Authorities Arrest Two in Copper Wire Theft Investigation
KERN COUNTY, CA — “On July 9, 2026, detectives from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crimes Investigation Unit were investigating a diesel fuel theft and copper wire theft from farms in Old River area.
During the investigation, detectives identified DAVID TYLER (age 46) as the suspect of the theft. Detectives served a search warrant in the 5400 block of Kinnett Avenue. At the residence deputies located stolen diesel and evidence of copper wire theft at the residence.
MIGUEL GOMEZ was also contacted at the residence where detectives located stolen copper wire and additional evidence of stolen copper wire inside of his vehicle.
TYLER was arrested for multiple counts of PC 487(a)- grand theft, PC 594(B)(1)- vandalism, and PC 666.1(A)(1)- committing theft with priors.
GOMEZ was arrested for PC 496A(A)- possession of stolen copper wire, PC 466- possession of burglary tools, CVC 12500(A)- driving without a license, CVC 4000(A)(1)- unregistered vehicle, and CVC 5200- not displaying license plates.”
