Early Morning Burglary Alarm Leads to Arrest in Davis
DAVIS, CA — “In the early morning hours of July 21, 2026, Davis Police Officers responded to the 2000 block of 2nd Street after receiving a burglary alarm from a closed business. Upon arrival, officers discovered signs of forced entry. Believing the suspect may have fled the immediate scene, officers deployed a department drone to quickly and safely search the surrounding area from the air.
The drone allowed officers to effectively survey a broader area and identified a lone individual nearby. Using the drone’s aerial perspective, operators were able to direct officers to the individual’s location. Officers contacted the subject, later identified as Mark Robles, 41, of Davis, and discovered he was in possession of merchandise taken from the burglarized business. Robles was arrested on an outstanding warrant and on new charges related to the burglary. He was subsequently booked into the Yolo County Jail.
This incident demonstrates how drone technology can serve as an effective force multiplier for officers in the field. By providing a rapid aerial view of the surrounding area, the drone helped officers locate a potential suspect more efficiently while reducing the time and personnel needed to conduct a ground search.”
