Suspect Arrested Following Stabbing at L&R Gas Station in Live Oak

LIVE OAK, CA — “On July 20, 2026, at approximately 3:00 a.m., deputies and detectives with the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a stabbing at L&R Gas Station, located on Highway-99 in the City of Live Oak.

The victim contacted law enforcement and reported that he had been stabbed. During the initial investigation, the victim identified the suspect, who was known to him.

Deputies and detectives immediately began searching the surrounding area and were able to locate the suspect in the area of Pennington Road and Highway-99.

Lester Nelson, 45, of Live Oak, was taken into custody and booked into the Sutter County Jail on charges of Resisting Arrest, Attempted Murder, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

The victim was transported to Adventist Health and Rideout for treatment of his injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.”
