Chowchilla Police Allegedly Catch Man with Narcotics, Loaded Handgun During Traffic Stop

CHOWCHILLA, CA — “On July 16, 2026, at approximately 2300 hours, Officer D. Lawson conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation. Upon contact of the driver, he observed a loaded handgun in plain view on the passenger seat. As the investigation continued, officers recovered approximately 23.6 grams of methamphetamine. The loaded firearm was found to not be registered to the driver, nor was it legally transported.

The adult male driver was arrested and booked into the Madera County Jail on multiple felony charges.”
