EL CERRITO — BART police arrested a passenger on July 14, a convicted murderer from Georgia,
sentenced in absentia to life in prison for killing a transgender woman.
Davonte I. Fore, 27, remains in custody pending extradition to Georgia.
BART officers approached Fore for attempted fare evasion at El Cerrito del Norte BART station, but he
fled from them. Fore was apprehended following a foot chase into the surrounding neighborhood. He
was arrested at 9:29 a.m.
Fore reportedly provided a false name and a fake identification card to BART police to conceal his
identity. However, a fingerprint check revealed his true identity, and his active arrest warrant from
Georgia.
Fore was booked for being a fugitive from justice on an out-of-state warrant, resisting/obstructing an
officer, and providing false identification to an officer. He is temporarily being housed at the Martinez
Detention Facility.
His warrant from Georgia stems from a homicide in Stone Mountain, Georgia. The victim 25-year-old
Skyler Gilmore was shot to death inside their bedroom in June 2021.
Investigators in Georgia determined that Fore acted as a member of a criminal street gang. Leaders of
the gang reportedly ordered the killing of the transgender woman for having a relationship with another
gang member.
Fore who was free on bond attended the first two days of his trial. He failed to show up in court while
the jury was deliberating his fate. He was convicted and sentenced in absentia, and a bench warrant
was issued for his arrest.
