Santa Barbara Man Arrested on Allegations of Providing Meth to a Minor

SANTA BARBARA, CA — July 8th 2026 — 50-year-old Santa Barbara resident Jeffrey Kyle Snyder became “a person of interest” in May 2026, as Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department detectives began investigating allegations that he had provided methamphetamine to a 17-year-old girl he had met online.

According to SBSD Public Information Officer Raquel Zick, detectives learned “Snyder had met the girl online and later arranged to meet her in person for a date.” Evidence gathered during the investigation determined the two then went to Snyder’s residence in the Painted Cave Road area in the foothills above the City of Santa Barbara.

In June, further investigation into Snyder’s actions during that encounter pointed to evidence that Snyder “injected the minor with methamphetamine and sexually assaulted her” while she was at the residence. With that evidence in hand, warrants for Snyder’s search and arrest were obtained and the search for him began.

On June 30th, detectives located Snyder in Santa Barbara “as he was getting out of a ride-share vehicle.” He was taken into custody at that time, arrested, and transported to Santa Barbara County Jail where he was booked on charges of providing narcotics to a juvenile and on a probation violation tied to a prior witness intimidation case.

Public court records indicate that a formal complaint was filed against Snyder on July 2nd, in the Santa Barbara Figueroa Criminal Court (Case No. 26CR04992). Represented by a public defender, he faces a felony charge under Health and Safety Code 11380(a) for providing methamphetamine to a minor. The complaint also includes three severe sentencing enhancements: PC 667(e)(1) and PC 667(a)(1) due to a prior serious or violent felony “strike,” and PC 1203(e)(4) which restricts probation eligibility for repeat offenders.

Snyder’s arraignment on charges of providing meth to a minor has been continued multiple times and is currently scheduled for Friday, July 10, at 8:30 a.m. Meanwhile, he remains in custody with bail set at $325,000 according to jail records.
