SAN RAFAEL, CA — A registered sex offender remains in custody at Marin County Jail, following two arrests in June. Robiel T. Sium, 29, of Richmond, was first arrested on June 18, released from custody, and rearrested on June 24.
Sium allegedly climbed a fence, entered a fitness studio in San Rafael on June 18, and attempted to make “physical contact” with customers. San Rafael police arrested him on suspicion of burglary and assault with intent to commit rape.
On June 24, Sium was released from custody without charges being filed. He was arrested again about five hours later by police in Tiburon. This time Sium allegedly assaulted a woman walking along Tiburon Peninsula Historic Trail.
The woman in Tiburon reported a man approached her at approximately 10:25 p.m., near Belvedere Tennis Club. He allegedly grabbed her breasts, and tried forcing her into nearby bushes, according to Tiburon police. She fought back, escaped from him, and ran into a nearby business, where she phoned the police.
Tiburon officers searched for the assailant along the trail, and nearby Blackie’s Pasture Park. Police found a man matching the suspect’s description, in patio area at Woodlands Market, 1550 Tiburon Boulevard. The victim was brought there, and she positively identified Sium as the suspect.
Following the attack on the Tiburon trail, charges were filed against Sium for false imprisonment, sexual battery, and parole violation. He was on parole for a 2023 sexual battery conviction, and required to register as a sex offender.
