Grover Beach Police Arrest Residential Burglary Suspect Monitored on Home Security Camera

GROVER BEACH, CA — On June 16, 2026, at approximately 1:24 p.m., officers from the Grover Beach Police Department responded to a report of a residential burglary in progress within the 200 block of North 10th Street. The property owner, who was away from the residence at the time, was monitoring the interior via a live bedroom security camera. The owner observed a suspect inside the home searching through the room and spoke to the individual through the security camera system.

Grover Beach Police Department personnel arrived at the scene, established a security perimeter around the house, and evacuated nearby Ramona Garden Park. The suspect inside the residence did not respond to initial law enforcement attempts at contact. The homeowner provided police with updated descriptions of the suspect’s attire after observing the individual change clothes on the live video feed.

Based on the updated description, officers located and detained the suspect in the immediate area. The individual was identified as Alyssa Scheidt, a 36-year-old resident of San Luis Obispo. Upon detaining Scheidt, officers recovered two sets of vehicle keys belonging to the homeowners.

Scheidt was arrested on charges of violating Penal Code 459 (Burglary) and was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail. The recovered keys were subsequently returned to the property owner. The Grover Beach Police Department received assistance during the incident from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office and the Arroyo Grande Police Department.
