Driver Arrested for DUI and Hit-and-Run After Single-Vehicle Crash on Mohawk Chapman Road
PORTOLA, CA — On June 15, 2026, at approximately 11:40 PM, officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Quincy and Portola Area responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a vehicle and a tree on Mohawk Chapman Road, south of Gold Lake Highway.
Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle abandoned. They subsequently located and contacted the driver at his residence. The subsequent investigation determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Investigators determined the driver was on DUI probation and had an outstanding warrant. He faces additional charges of probation violation, hit-and-run, and driving on a suspended license. No major injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
