Shingletown Man Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Elderly Man to Death

SHINGLETOWN, CA — “On June 5th, 2026, at approximately 3:52 PM, Deputies with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 7100 block of Kaysie Rae Court in Shingletown for a welfare check. The reporting party reported not seeing 87-year-old Thomas Anthony Cuneo, for several weeks.

Responding deputies located a deceased adult male inside the residence. The circumstances at the scene, including evidence of significant trauma, indicated the death was the result of a homicide. Detectives and investigative technicians from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office responded and processed the residence.

During the investigation, detectives determined Thomas lived at the residence with Jordan Newton Moore, age 28, of Shingletown, who served as his live-in caregiver. Based on witness statements, Moore had not been seen at the residence for several weeks, and Thomas’ vehicle was also missing.

An autopsy was conducted on June 12th, 2026. The examination determined the victim suffered numerous stab wounds and the cause of death was ruled as a Homicide. On June 12th, 2026, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for 187(a) PC – First Degree Murder for Jordan Moore.

On June 14th, 2026, detectives, with the assistance of the Marina Police Department, located and arrested Moore in Marina, CA. Moore is currently booked in the Monterey County Jail pending extradition to Shasta County.
