Attorney and Second Suspect Arrested for Allegedly Bringing Controlled Substances into San Bernardino Central Detention Center

SAN BERNARDINO, CA — The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department arrested two men on May 26, 2026, after investigators discovered suspected narcotics in a vehicle at the Central Detention Center located at 630 E. Rialto Avenue in San Bernardino.

During the operation, investigators conducted a search of a red Nissan Sentra parked in the facility’s employee parking lot. Inside the vehicle, authorities contacted 52-year-old David Montrenes of Lake Forest. Deputies determined that Montrenes had driven Bryan Fazio, a licensed California attorney, to the detention center for an official attorney visit.

A search of the vehicle and subsequent investigation revealed that Montrenes was in possession of a vape device containing cannabis, alongside additional suspected narcotics. He was detained at the scene without incident.

While investigators were processing the vehicle, Fazio returned to the automobile and was contacted by deputies. Investigators discovered that Fazio was in possession of various suspected narcotics and a digital scale.

Both Fazio and Montrenes were arrested for violating Penal Code section 4573.5, which prohibits bringing or sending drugs into a jail or prison. Both individuals were booked into the Central Detention Center. Following the initial arrests, investigators obtained and served search warrants at the residences of both suspects, where additional narcotics were located.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department requests that anyone with information regarding this incident contact the Central Detention Center at (909) 386-0969. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling or texting “REPORT” to the WE-TIP HOTLINE at (844) 909-3006, or online via the We-Tip website.
