Visalia Man Arrested for Negligent Discharge of Firearm Inside Residence
VISALIA, CA — Patrol and HOPE officers with the Visalia Police Department recently responded to an afternoon report of gunfire in the 3100 block of West Tulare Avenue.
During the initial investigation, officers determined that an individual inside the residence had discharged a handgun within a bedroom. The suspect, identified as 57-year-old Visalia resident James Gowin, exited the home following the arrival of law enforcement and was detained by officers without incident.
The Visalia Police Department Violent Crimes Unit subsequently arrived at the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation. Gowin was taken into custody to be booked on charges of negligent discharge of a firearm under PC 246.3.
