Tulare County Sheriff’s Detectives Investigate Shots Fired Incident in Poplar; One Arrested

POPLAR, CA — A suspect was taken into custody on Saturday, May 2, 2026 following a shots fired incident in Poplar. The suspect allegedly pointed a firearm and discharged rounds at a group of individuals.

At approximately 11:00 a.m., deputies from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of shots fired on the 18900 block of Avenue 145.

Upon arrival, deputies conducted interviews and learned that an adult male suspect had brandished a handgun, pointed it at multiple people, and opened fire in their direction. No injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire.

Deputies searched the immediate vicinity, located the suspect, and placed him under arrest without further incident. Crime scene technicians also recovered spent shell casings at the scene to be processed as evidence.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office General Crimes Unit has assumed control of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information regarding this incident to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (559) 733-6218.
