Minors Cited for Possession of Fake IDs at HaHa Sushi and Ramen in San Luis Obispo
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA — State and local law enforcement officers cited 29 underage individuals for possession of fake IDs during an enforcement operation at a local restaurant on Sunday, April 23, 2026.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., undercover agents from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) observed a large group of young individuals ordering and consuming alcoholic beverages while dining at HaHa Sushi and Ramen, located at 1065 Olive Street. Agents contacted and identified the members of the group, subsequently determining that all participants were under the legal drinking age of 21 and each was in possession of a fake identification card.
Officers from the San Luis Obispo Police Department responded to the establishment to assist ABC agents with the enforcement action. A total of 29 individuals were issued citations and released at the scene for violation of Business and Professions Code 25661(a), which governs the possession of a false or fraudulent identification.
Additionally, six individuals within the group who were observed holding alcoholic beverages were also cited for violation of Business and Professions Code 25662(a), a misdemeanor offense for a minor in possession of an alcoholic beverage.
According to data compiled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), drivers under the age of 21 carry an elevated risk of being involved in traffic accidents compared to older motorists, with underage drinking factoring into approximately 25 percent of all fatal vehicle collisions. Officials noted the joint operation was part of regular efforts to reduce underage access to alcohol and improve public safety.
