Traffic Stop in San Juan Capistrano Results in Seizure of Narcotics, Loaded Firearms, and Cash

evidence - courtesy of ocsd san juan capistranoSAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA  — A traffic stop conducted early in the morning on Monday May 4th by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department led to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of a substantial quantity of illicit narcotics and weapons.

At approximately 2:07 a.m., a deputy assigned to San Juan Capistrano’s Special Enforcement Team initiated a routine traffic stop. During the course of the enforcement action, authorities conducted a search that yielded various controlled substances, including more than 2,000 grams of fentanyl, 1,300 grams of methamphetamine, 700 grams of heroin, and 300 grams of ketamine. Officers also recovered two phencyclidine (PCP) cigars, 26 pieces of alprazolam, and two grams of marijuana.

In addition to the narcotics, deputies discovered and seized two loaded firearms, one of which was identified as an unserialized “ghost gun.” A total of $7,200 in cash was also recovered from the scene as part of the investigation.

Three suspects were taken into custody following the discovery. Sheriff’s Department representatives noted that the proactive traffic stop is part of ongoing enforcement efforts directed at preventing the distribution of narcotics within local neighborhoods.
