Pursuit Ends in Collision and DUI Arrest Following Foot Chase

PLACENTIA, CA  — A driver who lead officers on a foot chase was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence for the second time, after fleeing from a traffic stop and colliding with multiple objects on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

At approximately 10:00 p.m., a Placentia police officer attempted to initiate a vehicle stop near the intersection of Kraemer Boulevard and Chapman Avenue. The driver failed to yield and fled from the officer. The pursuit concluded shortly thereafter when the suspect vehicle struck a curb, two center medians, a traffic light, and a light pole.

Following the collision, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into a neighboring apartment complex. Officers established a perimeter around the area with the assistance of the Anaheim Police Department’s helicopter unit, “Angel.” The airborne crew located the suspect hiding on an apartment patio, allowing ground officers to take the individual into custody without further incident.

A subsequent investigation revealed that the driver was operating the vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration that was 2.5 times the legal limit. Authorities confirmed this incident marks the suspect’s second driving under the influence (DUI) offense. Law enforcement officials reminded the public of the legal and physical dangers associated with impaired driving, advising motorists to utilize sober drivers, rideshare services, or contact emergency services if they observe dangerous driving behavior.
