Imperial County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Suspect in Agricultural Theft Investigation
IMPERIAL COUNTY, CA — Investigators with the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a suspect on May 10, 2026, following an investigation into the repeated theft of agricultural equipment. The case originated on April 25, 2026, when authorities responded to a business on McConnell Road regarding the loss of approximately 450 sprinkler heads. The stolen items, taken during two separate incidents, were valued at approximately $3,100.
In response to a rise in agricultural thefts affecting local businesses, investigators implemented a follow-up strategy involving specialized equipment to track and monitor impacted areas. On the evening of May 10, authorities were alerted to a third theft at the same McConnell Road location.
The investigation led to the identification of 31-year-old Juan Balderas of Holtville, California. According to officials, Balderas was found in possession of the stolen property. He was arrested on charges of grand theft of agricultural equipment and is currently being held at the Imperial County Jail without bail.
