Marina Police Arrest Two Suspects in Multi-County Identity Theft Case

MARINA, CA — Officers with the Marina Police Department arrested two individuals on April 28, 2026, in connection with a burglary and an extensive identity theft operation involving hundreds of potential victims. Juan Manuel Zazueta, 53, and Danielle Therese Urzua, 39, were taken into custody following a traffic stop in the 400 block of Reservation Road.

The investigation originated on April 17, 2026, when officers responded to a report of a past-tense burglary at a storage facility. By reviewing surveillance footage, investigators identified a black 2007 Mercedes four-door as the suspect vehicle. When an officer located and stopped the vehicle on April 28, the occupants were identified as the suspects from the footage. Inside the car, police discovered burglary tools and items linked to identity theft. Officials noted that Zazueta initially provided a false identity belonging to one of the victims in the case.

Following the arrests, detectives executed a search warrant on a storage locker the suspects had access to within the same complex. The search yielded a large volume of mail and identity documents, as well as evidence of check and U.S. currency forging. To date, investigators have identified information belonging to more than 375 individuals. The recovered mail originated from Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Santa Clara counties.

Both Zazueta and Urzua had outstanding warrants for similar offenses in Santa Clara County. They now face multiple charges, including burglary, conspiracy, identity theft, possession of stolen property, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
