Driver Arrested for Brandishing Firearm During Roadway Dispute on Interstate 5

The incident was reported to dispatch after a motorist alleged that a driver pointed a handgun at them while traveling on the freeway. Responding officers located the suspect vehicle shortly after it exited the interstate. A traffic stop was initiated, and the occupants of the vehicle were detained without further incident.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers recovered a black handgun. Based on the preliminary investigation, the driver was identified as the individual responsible for the brandishing. The suspect was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on charges of violating California Penal Code 417(a)(1), which pertains to the exhibition of a deadly weapon.

In response to the incident, the California Highway Patrol issued a safety reminder urging motorists to avoid engaging with aggressive drivers. Authorities advise the public to maintain distance and contact 9-1-1 if they encounter threatening behavior on the road.
