The Santa Ana Police Department has initiated a double homicide investigation following a shooting that left two men dead and a third injured on the evening of Sunday, April 19, 2026.
At approximately 8:55 p.m., police communications received several reports of gunfire near the intersection of Borchard Avenue and Shelton Street. Upon arrival, officers and personnel from the Orange County Fire Authority located three male victims with gunshot wounds. One victim, identified as 49-year-old Eusebio Villareal of Santa Ana, had sustained multiple wounds to his upper torso and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A second victim, 46-year-old Marlon Jaime Castillo of Fullerton, also suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. A third victim, a 43-year-old male from Los Angeles, was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg and is expected to survive.
Preliminary findings by investigators suggest the motive for the shooting is gang-related. Homicide detectives are currently seeking additional witnesses and information to assist in identifying and locating those involved.
