Suspect Arrested for Attempted Kidnapping and Assault Following Multi-Agency Investigation
WOODLAND, CA – On April 10, 2026, the Woodland Police Department Special Operations Unit, in coordination with the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office, apprehended a suspect involved in an attempted kidnapping and assault that occurred in March.
The investigation began on March 24 at approximately 7:00 p.m., when officers responded to reports of a dispute in the 400 block of Pioneer Avenue. Initial reports indicated that a suspect operating a black Dodge Ram pickup truck attempted to kidnap a woman and issued threats before striking a man with the vehicle and fleeing the scene.
Authorities identified the suspect as 58-year-old Tim John Peterson, a resident of Yolo County. Following an investigation into his whereabouts, Peterson was located in Dunnigan, California, on Friday morning. He was taken into custody without incident by personnel from both agencies.
The arrest concluded a multi-day search for Peterson. Law enforcement officials stated that the successful apprehension was the result of collaborative investigative efforts between the Woodland Police Department and the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office.
