San Francisco Police Arrest Suspect Following Fatal Hit-and-Run on Mission Street

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — The San Francisco Police Department’s Homicide Detail has assumed the lead in a hit-and-run investigation following a fatal collision on April 13, 2026. The incident occurred at approximately 3:23 p.m. at the intersection of Mission Street and South Van Ness Avenue.

Officers and paramedics responded to the scene and located an adult pedestrian who was pronounced deceased. Investigators determined that the vehicle involved in the collision failed to remain at the scene.

Utilizing the Real Time Investigation Center (RTIC), officers monitored the vehicle as it traveled on the freeway. When the vehicle exited, San Francisco Police officers, with assistance from San Francisco Sheriff’s deputies, conducted a traffic stop in the vicinity of Potrero Avenue and 18th Street. The driver was detained without incident.

Following an initial investigation, authorities identified the driver as 30-year-old Valentino Cash Amil of San Francisco. Amil was arrested and booked into the San Francisco County Jail on charges of homicide and felony hit-and-run resulting in injury.

Court proceedings for Amil are set to begin Friday, April 24, within Department 12 of the San Francisco County Superior Court.
