San Francisco Police: Two arrested in shooting on Market Street

SAN FRANCISCO — Police have announced the arrests of two suspects in connection to a shooting on Market Street in San Francisco.

Just after 5:30 PM on Tuesday, August 20, Tenderloin Station officers arrived on the 1000 block of Market Street and discovered a victim with a wound to his face, for which he was treated at the hospital and has since been released.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage which showed three suspects running across Market Street, one of them firing several pistol rounds toward a group of people. One suspect is also shown physically assaulting another person.

After a crime bulletin was circulated to members of SFPD and other local agencies, Oakland PD soon identified two of the suspects as 18-year-old Lerron Simpson and 21-year-old Elijah Ernest, both of Oakland.

On Monday, August 26, the two were located and taken into custody. A firearm was also located and seized.

A third suspect, a juvenile, has been identified but is still at large.
