Juvenile Arrested Following E-Bike Collision with Pedestrian in Lake Forest
LAKE FOREST, CA — Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department arrested a 14-year-old male following a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and an e-bike on Thursday, April 16, 2026. The incident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. in the vicinity of Toledo Way and Ridge Route Drive in Lake Forest.
Upon arrival, deputies located an 81-year-old male who had sustained life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition. While initial reports identified the vehicle involved as an e-bike, investigators later determined it was an electric motorcycle designed for off-highway use.
According to witness statements, the operator of the vehicle was driving in a reckless manner prior to the collision and fled the scene immediately following the impact. Based on descriptions provided by witnesses, investigators identified a suspect and served a search warrant at a residence in Lake Forest.
The 14-year-old suspect was taken into custody and booked at Orange County Juvenile Hall on charges related to the collision. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is currently leading the investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
