Assault At Local Park in Marina CA: Suspect Arrested on Multiple Charges
MARINA, CA — The Marina Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with an assault at a local park. The assault was reported on Monday, April 13, 2026 at approximately 3:35 p.m. and officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Reservation Road and Seaside Circle following reports of the incident.
A victim told investigators that the male suspect approached him at a local park and led him against his will to a remote area. There, he was physically assaulted but eventually managed to flee to safety. The victim provided law enforcement with photographs of both the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle, which officials noted assisted in the subsequent investigation.
Detectives identified the suspect as 34 year old Jose Gutierrez of Castroville. He was located and arrested without incident. Gutierrez was booked into the Monterey County Jail on suspicion of kidnapping and sexual battery.
Police stated this appears to be an isolated incident with no ongoing public threat. In response, the department has increased monitoring and deployed a mobile surveillance camera in the area.
