Multi-Agency Operation Consequences Results in Dozens of Arrests and Firearm Seizures

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CA  — Between March 30 and April 5, 2026, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department led a multi-agency effort known as Operation Consequences. The targeted crime suppression initiative involved investigators from the Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division, the California Highway Patrol, the Department of Homeland Security, and several municipal police departments, including San Bernardino, Upland, Ontario, Fontana, and Barstow. Proactive patrols were also conducted by the San Bernardino Movement Against Street Hoodlums (SMASH) Street Enforcement Team.

The operation spanned several locations, including Apple Valley, Victorville, San Bernardino, Loma Linda, Fontana, Colton, and Rialto. During the one-week period, law enforcement personnel served 19 search warrants, resulting in the contact of documented gang members and individuals prohibited from owning firearms. The operation led to 43 felony arrests and 12 misdemeanor arrests.

Investigators seized a total of 60 firearms, including nine “ghost guns,” and over one pound of narcotics, including suspected methamphetamine. Officials noted that two of the arrests involved charges under Proposition 36, “The Homelessness, Drug Addiction and Theft Reduction Act,” which allows for enhanced sentencing and limitations on citation releases for certain offenses.

Funding for these increased law enforcement services was authorized by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors to address quality-of-life issues. Operation Consequences is scheduled to continue over the next several months with the objective of reducing violent crime and dismantling criminal street gangs involved in the illegal trafficking of firearms.
