SAN LEANDRO — Eddie Madrigal, 32, of San Leandro, was arrested on April 12 and later
charged with four felonies.

Madrigal allegedly fled during an attempted traffic stop, which
resulted in a collision causing death or injury, and recovery of a firearm.

Madrigal was apprehended on 35th Avenue in San Leandro. He was booked into Alameda
County Santa Rita Jail on April 13 at 1:52 a.m. He remains in custody ineligible for release on
bond, pending a pre-trial hearing on April 30. No Information about the crash victim has been
released.

The attempted stop for a traffic violation escalated to more serious offenses. Madrigal
allegedly drove recklessly at speeds up to 100 mph while fleeing from police, until he crashed.

On April 15 the following charges were filed against Madrigal –
Felon in possession of a firearm
Carrying a loaded firearm in a public place
Reckless evading causing death or great bodily injury
Reckless evading of an officer

Madrigal has a criminal record, which prohibits him from possessing any firearms. He has
been arrested at least seven times since 2014.

Madrigal was released from prison in June 2024. He was on federal “supervised release”
stemming from his 2023 conviction for possession and conspiracy to distribute
methamphetamine.

In Alameda County, he was convicted for felony evasion, stemming from a police pursuit in
May 2018.

He has prior arrests on his record for burglary, possession of stolen property, and possession
of a controlled substance in 2019. He was arrested for vehicle theft, and possession of
burglary tools in 2014.
