MARINA, CA — The Marina Police Department has announced an arrest in relation to the Firearm Assault that took place earlier this month.
On April 1, 2026, Marina Police responded to a reported assault with a deadly weapon on Reservation Road. The victim involved in the incident reported being battered with a firearm.
To assist in the investigation, the Marina Police Department utilized the FLOCK automated license plate reader system, which helped identify and locate the vehicle associated with the suspect. Shortly after the investigation began, a sergeant from the California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) Police Department located the vehicle and the suspect, identified as 47-year-old Juan Watson of Marina. Watson was successfully taken into custody.
A review of public arrest records reveals a lengthy and violent criminal history for Watson, spanning a diverse array of serious offenses. His prior legal involvements include allegations ranging from substance-related charges—such as possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence, and being an addict in possession of a firearm or ammunition—to more aggressive acts, including making threats of violence and attempted murder.
Additionally, Watson’s record indicates a recurring disregard for legal mandates and law enforcement, with previous arrests for disobeying a protective order, evasion, destroying evidence, parole violations, and driving without a license.
