Passenger Arrested After Redding Police Allegedly Find Methamphetamine During Traffic Stop
REDDING, CA — “The Redding Police Department Neighborhood Police Unit (NPU) arrested one individual following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of a large quantity of methamphetamine and additional narcotics during a subsequent investigation.
On March 31, 2026, at approximately 6:20 PM, NPU officers conducted an enforcement stop on a white Ford sedan in the area of Railroad Avenue and Buenaventura Boulevard for expired vehicle registration. During the stop, officers contacted the driver, Skye Rios, and passenger, Scott Hevenor, both residents of Redding.
During the contact, Rios admitted to possessing methamphetamine. Officers detained her and located methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe on her person. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a digital scale and a backpack containing multiple baggies of methamphetamine. In total, officers seized over 1/4 pound of methamphetamine.
During the investigation, Hevenor admitted ownership of the methamphetamine located inside the vehicle, as well as furnishing narcotics to Rios.
Officers then obtained consent to search a residence associated with both individuals on Placer Street in Redding. During the search, additional narcotics were located inside the bedroom shared by Rios and Hevenor, including methamphetamine and heroin, along with drug paraphernalia.
Scott Hevenor was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail on charges related to the possession of a controlled substance for sale, furnishing a controlled substance, and other drug-related offenses. Skye Rios was cited and released for possession of a controlled substance.
The Redding Police Department Neighborhood Police Unit will continue to proactively target individuals involved in the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics to improve quality of life and enhance community safety.”
