Fort Bragg: Two Arrested on Narcotics, Weapons Charges During PRCS Compliance Check

FORT BRAGG, CA — “On 04/04/2026 at approximately 10:42 P.M., Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Fort Bragg Police Department Officers conducted a Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS) compliance check on Charles Gielow, whom Law Enforcement learned was staying at the Oceanside Inn in Fort Bragg, CA (820 North Main Street).

Gielow’s PRCS terms prohibit him from possessing dangerous weapons (including knives and firearms), and from possessing narcotics.

When Law Enforcement personnel arrived at Gielow’s room, they found the door ajar.  Charles Gielow, Charles Blunt, and a third person were in the room and detained without incident.  Charles Blunt was determined to be on probation in Mendocino County. The third person was ultimately released without charges.

During the initial contact with Gielow, he removed the shorts he was wearing and kicked them to the side.  Law Enforcement Personnel located a loaded pistol in the shorts Gielow was wearing. Gielow was determined to be prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition due to previous criminal convictions.

Deputies searched Gielow’s room and located various items associated with the sales of narcotics.  These items included a scale, numerous sandwich-size bags, fentanyl test strips, NARCAN, and paraphernalia used to ingest methamphetamine.

Deputies also located 76 grams of narcotics during their search of Gielow’s room.  Based on initial observations and testing, these narcotics are believed to consist of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and heroin. Metal knuckles were also located during the search, which were determined to belong to Blunt.

Gielow was arrested on the following charges:
29800(a)(1) PC – Prohibited person in possession of a firearm, 30305(a)(1) PC – Prohibited person in possession of ammunition, 3455(a) PC – Violation of PRCS, 11351 HS – Possession of a controlled substance for sales, 11370.1(a) HS – Possession of a controlled substance while armed with a firearm, and 182(a)(1) PC – Conspiracy to commit a crime.  Gielow was booked and lodged at the Mendocino County Jail and is being held on a ‘no bail’ status.
