Fairfield Police Arrest Man on Suspicion of Armed Robbery at Local Business
FAIRFIELD, CA — “On March 24 at 6:46pm, Fairfield Police Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of N. Texas Street following reports of a suspect armed with a knife stealing from a business.
As officers responded and obtained a direction of travel for the suspect, personnel assigned to the Real-Time Intelligence Center (RTIC) established an overhead view of the area utilizing city CCTV cameras along N. Texas Street. The CCTV cameras showed the suspect was entering another business nearby. Officers promptly responded and safely detained the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Mathew Gernux, inside of the business.
Gernux was arrested for robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
