Alturas Man Held Without Bail on Multiple Felony Charges Including Torture and Attempted Murder
ALTURAS, CA — A Modoc County man remains in custody following his arraignment on several violent felony charges, including attempted murder and torture. Matthew Alexander Boldt appeared before the Honorable Randal Harr in Modoc County Superior Court on February 23, 2026.
According to the Modoc County District Attorney’s Office, Boldt faces a significant list of allegations. The charges include:
Attempted murder (Penal Code §§ 664/187(a))
Torture (Penal Code § 206)
Mayhem (Penal Code § 203)
Two counts of assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury (Penal Code § 245(a)(4))
Criminal threats (Penal Code § 422(a))
False imprisonment (Penal Code § 236)
The defendant also faces additional violent felony charges and several special allegations. During the proceedings, prosecutors argued that Boldt should be held without bail. Judge Harr granted the request, ordering the defendant to remain in custody.
