Sutter County Night Shifts Recover Illegal Firearms and Make Multiple Arrests
SUTTER COUNTY, CA — March 6th 2026 — Recent proactive patrol efforts by the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office night shifts have resulted in multiple arrests and the recovery of two illegal firearms. These enforcement actions were carried out by both A and B night shift personnel during separate incidents involving a parolee and a domestic violence report.
During a B-night shift operation earlier this week, officers developed probable cause regarding a male subject on active parole suspected of unlawfully possessing a firearm. Law enforcement monitored the suspect as he departed a residence in a Cadillac SUV and traveled southbound on Highway 99. Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop north of Lomo, where the driver was detained without incident. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a grey duffle bag containing a sawed-off, pistol-grip, pump-action shotgun and ammunition. Investigators noted that the firearm’s serial numbers appeared intentionally altered, though a partial number remained legible. The subject was booked into the Sutter County Jail on parole violations and firearms-related charges.
In a separate incident during an A-night shift, deputies responded to a possible domestic violence situation after a family member reported a disconnected emergency call. During the early morning hours, deputies located a vehicle associated with the involved male subject in a residential neighborhood. Upon contacting the occupants, deputies observed a firearm inside the vehicle. After securing the scene, officials recovered a handgun lacking a serial number and narcotics. The driver, who was legally prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior convictions, also displayed signs of impairment. He was arrested and booked into the Sutter County Jail on charges including narcotics possession, DUI-related offenses, and firearms violations.
