Oroville Man Facing Murder Charges After Human Remains Discovered Near Ricky Road
OROVILLE, CA — “On March 21, 2026, a citizen contacted the Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) to report the discovery of human remains at a property on Ricky Road in Oroville. Deputies responded to the location and confirmed the presence of the remains. Detectives obtained a search warrant for two parcels on Ricky Road and recovered the human remains along with additional evidence related to the investigation.
Following an extensive investigation, detectives located evidence leading them to believe that Joseph Taylor, age 52, of Oroville, was responsible for the murder of the victim. Taylor was already in custody at the Butte County Jail on an unrelated felony arrest warrant.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Taylor was formally booked on one count of murder. This investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be provided as it becomes available. The identification of the victim is pending DNA analysis.
