SAN RAFAEL, CA — Two men face charges for a burglary at an unoccupied residence on March
19 in the Terra Linda neighborhood.
Alexis Zaid Garcia-Lopez, 22, and Juan Alexi Monasterio-Arredondo, 29, both of Richmond, remain in custody at Marin County Jail.
The suspects were caught thanks to an alert neighbor with a home security camera.
The resident reported seeing a man inside their neighbor’s unoccupied house next door. San
Rafael officers responded shortly after 5 a.m. This burglary in-progress occurred in the vicinity
of Diego and Duran drives.
As officers arrived at the scene, Garcia-Lopez attempted to flee out the front door. He was
tackled and placed under arrest at 5:22 a.m. The police recovered stolen property from inside
his backpack.
Officers searched the surrounding neighborhood to find the suspected getaway driver. The
second suspect Monasterio-Arredondo was arrested at 5:45 a.m.
Garcia-Lopez and Monasterio-Arredondo are each charged with the following –
· First-degree residential burglary
· Conspiracy to commit a crime
In addition, Garcia-Lopez is also charged with resisting/obstructing an officer. He remains in
custody in lieu of $50,000 bond.
Monasterio-Arredondo remains in custody on a no-bond hold, because he had an outstanding
bench warrant. He failed to complete a diversion program in a 2024 case involving
trespassing, which resulted in his bench warrant.
Monasterio-Arredondo also has a prior conviction on his record for vehicle theft and
possession of a stolen vehicle.
