Suspect Identified & Detained in Orangevale Double Homicide

ORANGEVALE, CA  — The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 58-year-old man Wednesday March 24th following a shooting that left two people dead. Deputies responded to the Sunshine Mobile Village at 6132 Main Avenue around 12:00 PM on March 24 after receiving reports of multiple gunshots.

Upon arrival, law enforcement received information that the suspect had returned to his residence within the mobile home park. Utilizing a BearCat armored vehicle from the Folsom Police Department, officers approached the location and extracted the two victims. An adult female was pronounced dead at the scene, while an adult male was transported to Mercy San Juan Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The suspect, identified as 58 year old John A. Clarke of Orangevale, was detained outside his trailer without incident. Records indicate Clarke was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail at 12:00 AM on March 25. He faces two felony counts of murder under California Penal Code 187(a) and is currently being held without bail.

The identities of the deceased have not been released pending notification of next of kin by the Coroner’s Office. Clarke is scheduled to appear in Department 62 on March 26 at 3:00 PM.
