REDDING, CA — “The Redding Police Department recognized an ongoing trend involving stolen bicycles in the Boulder Drive area and took a proactive enforcement approach that led to the recovery of multiple stolen bicycles and several arrests.

On March 21, 2026, at approximately 8:27 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of North Boulder Drive for follow-up investigations related to recent bicycle thefts. While en route, officers became aware of an additional theft reported that same morning involving two Specialized bicycles stolen from the same location.

During the investigation, officers learned one of the stolen bicycles had been located by the victim at a nearby business, where he also observed a suspect riding the second stolen bicycle. The suspect fled prior to officers’ arrival. Officers obtained video surveillance from a nearby business, which captured the suspect in possession of one of the stolen bicycles and helped establish the sequence of the thefts.

Officers conducted an area search and contacted several individuals in the vicinity. Through investigative efforts, officers identified a suspect connected to the thefts and developed additional leads. During this contact, officers were directed to a nearby encampment.

At the encampment, officers located approximately ten bicycles, several of which had been reported stolen in recent cases. Officers were able to confirm multiple stolen bicycles and began contacting victims for identification and return of property. One high-value bicycle stolen the previous day from a 74-year-old victim was recovered and returned.

In total, officers recovered bicycles valued at approximately $9,800.

Two individuals at the encampment were arrested on outstanding warrants and for possession of stolen property. A third individual was arrested in connection with a separate stolen bicycle case. The primary theft suspect has been identified and remains under investigation.

All recovered bicycles were collected and booked into evidence.

Photographs and surveillance footage have been documented to assist with prosecution.

This case has been forwarded to the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution.”
