DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA — The Desert Hot Springs Police Department, in coordination with the Riverside County Child Exploitation Team (RCCET), conducted a targeted law enforcement operation in La Quinta on March 19, 2026. The RCCET is a multi-agency task force established to investigate the online exploitation of minors and identify individuals engaged in such activities. During the operation, detectives served both search and arrest warrants at a residence in the La Quinta area.

As a result of the warrants, an 18-year-old male resident of La Quinta was taken into custody. The individual was arrested on multiple felony counts related to the possession of child sexual abuse material. Following the arrest, the subject was transported to a detention facility, where he remains in custody in lieu of bail.

The Desert Hot Springs Police Department cited its ongoing partnership with the RCCET as a primary component of its efforts to address crimes involving the online exploitation of children. In conjunction with the announcement of the arrest, the department issued a notice to the public regarding online safety. Parents and guardians are encouraged to monitor the digital activities of children, maintain awareness of their online communications, and report any suspicious behavior to the appropriate authorities. The department stated that it remains committed to these collaborative enforcement efforts to protect vulnerable members of the community.
