Carmel Resident Arrested on Multiple Felony Charges Following Sexual Assault Investigation
MARINA, CA — On March 13, 2026, at approximately 10:05 a.m., officers and detectives with the Marina Police Department arrested 47-year-old Dexter Salazar in the vicinity of California Avenue and Carmel Avenue. Salazar, a resident of Carmel, was taken into custody following an investigation into a past-tense sexual assault of a minor that occurred in Marina several years ago.
The investigation began on March 3, 2026, after the Marina Police Department received information regarding the case from Child Protective Services and the Monterey Police Department. Following a Department investigation, a warrant was issued for Salazar’s arrest. To assist in locating the suspect, authorities entered Salazar’s vehicle license plate into the FLOCK system. On the morning of March 13, the system alerted law enforcement that the vehicle was traveling near California Avenue and Carmel Avenue. A patrol officer located the vehicle, confirmed the driver’s identity, and conducted a stop where Salazar was detained.
Salazar was booked into the Monterey County Jail on a no-bail warrant. The charges include:
