Victorville Resident Arrested in Connection with Double Homicide on Sundown Road

VICTORVILLE, CA — On Friday, February 20, 2026, at approximately 8:58 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Station responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon and multiple shooting victims. The incident occurred at a residence located in the 13000 block of Sundown Road in Victorville.

Upon arrival, law enforcement personnel located three individuals suffering from gunshot injuries. The victims were identified as 48-year-old Ayanna Smith and 26-year-old Annaya Scott, both residents of Cerritos, and a 28-year-old male resident of Redlands. All three individuals were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment. Ayanna Smith and Annaya Scott were subsequently pronounced deceased at the hospital, while the third victim remains hospitalized.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail assumed the investigation. Detectives identified Victorville resident Sydney Smith as the primary suspect. Smith, who is related to the victims, was taken into custody on charges of murder (PC 187) and attempted murder (PC 664-187).. He was transported to the High Desert Detention Center, where he is currently being held without bail.
