Cal Poly Instructor Arrested on Suspicion of Contacting a Minor for Sexual Purposes
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA-The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a local man following an investigation into the sexual exploitation of children. On February 18, 2026, sheriff’s detectives executed a search warrant in the city of San Luis Obispo as part of the ongoing case.
As a result of the law enforcement action, 38-year-old Kevin Coulombe was taken into custody. Coulombe faces multiple charges, including contacting a minor with the intent to engage in sexual activity and arranging a meeting with a minor for sexual purposes. Authorities served search warrants at the suspect’s residence and his vehicle. Additionally, a search warrant was executed at Cal Poly, where Coulombe is currently employed as an instructor.
The investigation into the suspect’s background revealed a history of employment in educational settings. Prior to his current position at Cal Poly, Coulombe was employed as a teacher at San Luis Obispo High School. He also previously held a teaching position at Menlo-Atherton High School located in Atherton, California.
The Sheriff’s Office stated that this operation is part of a proactive effort to target individuals involved in the victimization of minors.
