Shasta County Sheriff: Michael Stuart Robinson Arrested Identified as Suspect in Torture & Shooting Incident on Peach Lane in Redding

REDDING, CA — The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Redding man for allegedly assaulting, and later shooting, his girlfriend’s ex-partner in December of 2025.

Deputies said they responded Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, to a residence on Peach Lane after a report of an assault. An adult male victim said he was alone at a nearby residence working on a vehicle when the suspect, identified as 46-year-old Michael Stuart Robinson, came up from behind and hit him several times with a metal pipe.

Robinson is the current partner of the victim’s ex-girlfriend, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities say the blows broke both of the victim’s arms and caused injuries to his head, back, and body. After Robinson left, the victim walked to a neighboring home for help. At that time, the victim declined to report the assault. The victim later received treatment at an area hospital.

On the evening of Monday, Dec. 8, 2025, the victim and his girlfriend were staying at a friend’s home in the Redding area. After the girlfriend left, Robinson allegedly arrived and confronted the victim inside the residence.

Investigators said Robinson then went to his vehicle, got a firearm and held it to the victim’s head while threatening to kill him. Robinson then lowered the weapon and allegedly shot the victim once in the shoulder before leaving.

When the victim’s girlfriend returned, the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

On Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, hospital staff notified deputies of a gunshot victim who had arrived for treatment for injuries from the two separate attacks, according to the sheriff’s office. Authorities obtained a warrant for Robinson’s arrest and had been searching for him since December.

At about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, deputies received information that Robinson was at a residence on the 6000 block of Peach Lane. Deputies responded, saw Robinson outside, and allege that he tried to run to the back of the residence before he was taken into custody without incident.

Robinson was booked into the Shasta County jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a firearm, making criminal threats, battery, failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge, and torture. His bail is set at $550,000.
