“On Saturday October 9, 2021 at 1:41 A.M., Redding Police Officers were in the area of California Street and Placer Street when they heard the sound of gunfire and people running from the area of Foundry Square.

Officers responded to Foundry Square and located several subjects within the parking lot, along with a spent shell casing and live ammunition strewn about.

The investigation revealed, a disturbance between several subjects occurred in the parking lot. Following the disturbance, a subject identified as Solomon Lewis, 22 years of Anderson, fired one round from a Glock 9mm handgun into the air and then concealed the loaded firearm in his vehicle.

During questioning, Lewis admitted to having the firearm in his vehicle but denied shooting it. Several witnesses on scene identified Lewis as the shooter, and the loaded firearm was recovered from his vehicle.

The incident was captured on video surveillance and corroborated witness’ statements. No subjects reported to have been struck by gunfire, nor were any injuries reported as a result of this incident. Lewis was ultimately booked into the Shasta County Jail for negligent discharge of a firearm, possession of a concealed loaded firearm and public intoxication.”
