SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The San Francisco Police Department’s Homicide Detail has launched an investigation following a fatal shooting in the city’s Southern District. On February 9, 2026, at approximately 2:02 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Harrison Street after receiving reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival at the intersection of Harrison and 2nd streets, responding officers located a victim with an apparent gunshot wound. Department personnel initiated medical aid, which included performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Paramedics were subsequently called to the scene and transported the individual to a local hospital for emergency treatment. Despite the medical intervention provided by hospital staff, the victim was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation into the incident, identified as SFPD Case# 260-078-724, remains open and active. Authorities have not yet released information regarding potential suspects or a motive. The San Francisco Homicide Detail is leading the inquiry and is seeking assistance from the public.
