ANTIOCH, CA — 35 year old Jesse R. Cheroti was recently arrested for allegedly causing a bizarre
disturbance outside an Antioch resident’s home.
Cheroti was booked into the Martinez Detention
Facility on January 26. Bond for his release from custody was set at $105,000.
“A man was knocking on a resident’s door and telling the occupants they did not live there,” Antioch
police said in a prepared statement. “He returned to his vehicle, honking repeatedly, and driving in
circles in the area.”
Police responded to the residence on 800 block of L Street, January 26 shortly after 4 a.m. Officers
learned that the man later identified as Cheroti allegedly attempted to hit a resident with his vehicle.
Cheroti’s vehicle was located nearby a short time later, and officers attempted a traffic stop. “Cheroti
failed to yield, and fled at a low speed before being stopped by officers,” according to the police
statement.
“Cheroti made verbal threats towards responding officers and attempted to flee a second time. Officers
deployed (spike strips) and again boxed in the vehicle.”
Cheroti was placed under arrest at 4:56 a.m. He was booked on suspicion of the following charges –
· Assault with a deadly weapon (his vehicle)
· Driving under the influence of drugs
· Making threats to an officer
· Evading an officer by driving against traffic
