San Francisco Police Arrest Suspect in 2024 Shotwell Street Homicide

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Shortly after 5am on August 5th 2024, officers from the San Francisco Police Department responded to reports of a physical assault involving a firearm in the vicinity of 20th and Shotwell Streets. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male lying on the ground with a gunshot wound.

Law enforcement personnel performed cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until paramedics arrived to provide further medical assistance. Despite the efforts of first responders and medical staff, the victim was pronounced deceased at the location. The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) Homicide Detail subsequently assumed leadership of the investigation into the incident.

Following an investigation, homicide detectives identified a suspect and established probable cause for an arrest. On January 23, 2026, the SFPD SWAT team executed search warrants at two locations: the 2500 block of 41st Avenue in San Francisco and the 100 block of Linda Vista Drive in Daly City. During these operations, 28-year-old Darryon Harry Chun was taken into custody on the 2500 block of 41st Avenue.

Chun was booked at the San Francisco County Jail on a charge of homicide (187(a) PC).
