Suspect Arrested in 2001 Hesperia Cold Case Murder

SAN BERNARDINO, CA – Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the 2001 homicide of Suzanne Sites-Fenton. On Thursday, January 15, 2026, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division (SWAT) took 51-year-old Raymond Silva Gonzales into custody at his residence in Hesperia. Gonzales was booked at the High Desert Detention Center for murder and is currently being held without bail.

The case originated on April 14, 2001, when Sites-Fenton’s husband reported her missing after she failed to return from her night shift at a Mervyn’s retail store in Victorville. Initial reports indicated that Sites-Fenton had walked into the store parking lot during a break but did not return. Her vehicle was located abandoned the following day, April 15, containing evidence of a physical altercation.

On April 16, 2001, her body was discovered near Mariposa Road and Ranchero Road in Hesperia. An investigation by the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigation Division – Homicide Detail determined that Sites-Fenton had been kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and fatally shot. Despite the initial investigation, no suspect was identified at the time.

In 2025, the Cold Case Homicide Team resumed the investigation, eventually identifying Gonzales as the suspect and obtaining an arrest warrant.

The Homicide Detail has requested that anyone with information regarding this case contact Detective Malcolm Page or Sergeant Justin Giles at 909-890-4904. Anonymous tips can be submitted through We-Tip at 1-800-78-CRIME or via their website.
